Agree to Disagree
Social media has become the biggest infiltrator of evil in our lives. Technology has nearly ruined human connection and turned everyone into a screen-faced monster.
Here’s the main problem with people today- everyone is so entitled. You think you’re entitled to everyone else’s time and information because social media and cell phones give the impression we all need to be connected. You need to know all the details of everyone's life "please post a 10 page thesis on why you're now single!" even If you haven't spoken to them In years, or ever met them outside of 15 minutes at a college party. If a friend takes time to reply to you- “Well forget them they aren’t there for me!” Or maybe they have a life that doesn’t revolve around you? Maybe they have their own things going on?
You think you’re entitled to your opinion- and can deliver it as rudely as you wish- because you can say it from behind a screen without actually facing someone. You feel the need to shove your Ideas and viewpoints down everyone's throat and when they push back you turn to name calling and cuss words thinking that will finally work. “This sucks and if you like it you suck.” Or perhaps people have different viewpoints and feelings on songs/ movies/ books and that’s ok if our taste is different. It’s ok if you don’t get someone else’s joy in a certain artist- we don’t all have to see and feel the same. But you don’t have to be rude when someone doesn't see things your way.
You think you’re entitled to feel however you feel and push everyone else and their feelings aside because “why not?!” Because as big as the world is people have never been more self centered or close minded. We trash people we should be closest to (or complete strangers whose opinions don't effect our lives) , we don't care who we hurt, and we feel empowered with the Idea that our views are being 'liked' and 'shared' so who cares what nasty things I said because I got 5 minutes of feeling special???????
I bet so many people would be happier if they minded their own business- and stopped letting everyone in on that business- shut their mouth for once and just listened, and took accountability for their thoughts, feelings, actions, and life situation.
There are more important things in the world people choose to stay silent on but they will gladly trash a sports team, player, musician or book online at any chance just cause they feel entitled that their feelings and opinion are the only ones that matter.
If social media comments are the only place you get to feel important having an argument with strangers you might want to take a step back and go touch some grass and come back to the real world.
Show a little empathy and respect to those around you, whether you like them or agree with them or not. Filter out the negativity and try to bring some positivity to the world. What you put out is what you get back.
