Unfiltered Advice I’d Give to My Younger Self (and Maybe You Too)

It’s been 3 years since I shared my thoughts in writing like this. One of my goals for 2025 was to write more and share it. So here I am, attempting to find the right words once again.

And with that, here is.

1- You don’t have it figured out - stop pretending you do.

For so long I have believed I need to have it all together or at least appear that way outwardly to have purpose. I’ve grown up with social medias growth and watched as it went from “fun! Let’s share random things!” To “I need to put out the best image to impress people I don’t even know or care about”

No one has anything figured out fully. Stop acting like you do and you might start to get it figured out.

2- The sky isn’t falling- don’t take it so seriously.

How many times have I sobbed over small things thinking “this is it? I’m done for?” Too many. When you take things too seriously, there’s no space for grace for yourself and any small misstep seems like the end of the world. Make a mistake, take a deep breath, and either try again or walk away.

3- KNOW YOUR WORTH- walk away when it’s time.

Why are you holding on to things that no longer benefit you? Why are you spending time with people you have to try and prove your worth to? Why are you pushing your values aside to fit in?

Anywhere you have to change yourself is not a place you should be. Know your worth, find your voice, don’t be afraid to move on.

4- Take care of yourself- you’re all you’ve got.

One mind, one body, one life. That’s all we get so why waste it? Mental health matters, physical health matters. Find a way to honor yourself and take care of yourself. You don’t want to be worn down and broken (inside or out) before your life has even begun. Eat better, take your medicine, move your body, rest your mind.

5- The best is yet to come- life doesn’t end at 25.

Everyone’s always in a rush to get to the end, to have it all together, to feel fulfilled. 18 may be the end of childhood but it’s just the beginning of adulthood. 25 is still a baby adult. You’ve got time to make mistakes, make memories, and get where you’re meant to be. Life is beautiful if you let be. You’ve got time.

Here is to me, here’s to you.

Be real.

Be true.

Be you.
